The Victor Harbor Rotary Art show finished on Saturday night and whilst I did not win any prizes I am thrilled that I sold two of my three entries: Mixed Bunch at the Preview and Poppies and Daisies during the week. Painting is so rewarding to the soul but the satisfaction of knowing someone has chosen your art from hundreds of others to hang on their wall just adds so much to the art journey.
Memories of Tuscany
At last I have drawn on the great memories from our Italian holiday last September, I don't recall seeing Poppies in the fields but I know they ought to be there.
Gum Nuts and Blossom
Loose work suits this subject so well, this is another Gum tree in our garden that has some flowering red blossom but lots of gumnuts
This week ended on such a high for me as I entered 3 paintings in the Rotary Art Show in Victor Harbor which opened Friday night and all 3 paintings were hung and to top it off "Mixed Bunch"was sold at the preview of the show earlier in the afternoon. The show runs daily until Saturday 21st January there are some lovely paintings on show so if you get a chance to get down this way check it out.
Next week I am attending a week long Summer School with artist Terry Lewitzka so hoping to pick up on some new ideas and techniques
Lots of painting this past week in very different styles:
A Good Dusting
From another of Susie's African photos, the dust posed quite a painting challenge!
Gum Tree Blossom
Inspired to paint in a loose style, one of the little gum trees on our front verge
was one mass of blossom, I so love the colours that I will painting this subject some more
Well the start of a brand New Year. Let 2012 be kind to you all. I look forward to more painting challenges and mean to try and get out of my comfort zone every now and then. I am going to start with trying out some work on the wonderful shots Susie (my daughter in law) brought back from Africa in September. Hope to include something later this month. I also need to be inspired by our own Italy memories also last September but there are so many experts doing these that I leave my efforts in a pile As always I will have local scenes on my mind as the abundance of inspiration here on the river is never ending.
