SALA - 2 days In

The SALA festival opened on Friday and I have just locked my studio door at the end of the second day. Both days the weather has been frightful, cold, blustery and raining. I did not have any visitors on Friday but today lots of people ventured out to do the rounds - I guess the weekends will always be busier than a week day. It has been a strange feeling to paint knowing that someone can walk in at any time and at first I was a bit nervous but visitors have been very friendly and genuinely interested in the process taken on various paintings. I have had to really think hard how to explain a result as you know sometimes it just happens instinctively, by happy accident etc. I have painted a lot too this past week, I will share today two very different paintings - an abstract on Yupo using inks and creating texture and also a pure watercolour. One I call painting the other I call creating - either way I just love the whole process

abstract work on Yupo, as the pure watercolor.
    I love your versatility!
The weather often interferes with the events scheduled, but then in some mysterious way, I saw that everything works out in the best way!

  3. I love the ink and wc on yupo...great movement! The animals are so cute....and I love that title. lol

Like most festivals I think the crowds come out on the weekend. I think it is great that you have the studio and can meet and greet prospective buyers. Sorry the weather wasn't better, but it sounds like you had a good crowd comining in.

  7. Hello Lorraine:) What you will be disappointed that first day. But the second day has made many well. I would also find it difficult to telling people how certain paintings were born. Especially a Yupo is not to explain because the paper works for itself! Your Yupo is a gem so pretty. The watercolor is also wonderful, really cute. I wish you much fun. Love:)

  9. Lorraine, both of these are beautifully done. I love Yupo and the different effects you can get. You are so right about one being "painting" and the other "creating" although i think there is a bit of both in each. Hope you did well at the SALA festival and the weather co-operated for you. You are brave to paint in front of people. :)
