Keeping it Loose

This is a thank you gift for my Auntie with whom I stayed whilst in England earlier this month. I have posted it off and hope she likes it when it gets there in a week or two. It was inspired from an image in a newspaper advertising a potted tulip Magnolia and picking up on how lovely she thought the plant was I knew this would be a great choice to paint. There is already a Poppy and Daisy work I painted about 4 years ago on her sitting room wall above the fire and whilst I can see that my work has matured I am pleased to say that my style of keeping it loose has remained.

Back to the Studio

Well after nearly 4 weeks without a brush in my hand I am finally back to my beautiful studio.
I intended to have a serious break from painting and kept to it. The only "Arty" things I have done whilst in England was to meet up with watercolour enthusiasts Laura Moore and Vandy Massey and have a long chat, and how brilliant that was. Somehow meeting "internet art friends" has made this blogging art journey real. I did find an art shop whilst out with my sister sight seeing and just had to make a couple of purchases , a little ceramic palette (hard to find here in Australia) and two sets of artist pens in Sepia and Black.
Back into it now with my new class of students here on Tuesday and I whilst I could still feel the jet lag effect all went well. I received two new exhibition requests whilst I was away so am keen to come up with some new work.
This Cockerel was nearly finished and waiting for me on my easel whilst away so with the bulk of the painting done I was able to ease my way back in with my brushes, bringing it to completion.
I look forward to once again seeing all your creations dear blogging friends and sharing my journey with you too.
