Prima Donna Watercolour on Yupo 28cm x 38cm |
Just spent many hours on this flower on Yupo. Yes it is certainly a surface that fosters being free, loose and colourful but boy does it show you who is the boss. Just when I thought I was nearly done and a tiny tweak might help the colour would disappear before my very eyes and I was back to the slippery white surface and many more brushstrokes were needed.
Someone from my art group has just given me a piece ....looks like it needs a bit of skill!! Love the title for this btw.
ReplyDeleteI love the title too Lorraine! And your cone flower (I think) turned out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried Yupo and from everyone's comments about using it, I don't think I want to cause myself any angst, well at least not any more than I already have. :)
ReplyDeleteI visited your section of cards and prints and must tell you I think your Mum and Me paintings are superb. To think of using the Mum's body as background must have been an aha moment for you. Great idea! Enjoy your day!
'Brave' springs to mind Lorraine. Fab job done.
ReplyDeleteA lot of time you spent on this one, but worth it. I love the texture and colors you came up with. I heard about Yupo but never experienced it yet. I just might!...Thanks for sharing Lorraine. Have a good weekend,xx
ReplyDeleteRead a lot about Yupo but never tried it. Sounds difficult. You did it well!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! It is such a fun surface to work on until you try to change something...and then it is sort of out of your control. lolI just finished a yupo painting (or I think it is finished) and will be posting it soon. I've been experimenting a little this month.
ReplyDeleteHello Lorainne:) Welcome to the world of YUPO:) But beware: it's addictive. I find it the most beautiful surface to work on. Your painting is beautiful. A thick compliment! Hug)
ReplyDeleteI seem to have lost how to reply to each comment, maybe blogger has removed it, anyway thanks everyone for your comments and Carol for liking my Mum and me images
ReplyDeleteOk have rechecked my settings and have the reply option back, who has time for all this technical stuff?
ReplyDeleteYou did a marvelous job on this one Lorraine. doesn't even look like watercolor but like oil ! I know how difficult yupo is and I am in awe !
ReplyDeletethanks Jane, the thicker application helps with layering for sure
DeleteHi Lorraine, I posted my yupo painting...please come see it. It is such an unusual surface. I like how you said it lets you know who's boss. lol
ReplyDeleteGreat experimenting on this Joan
DeleteBeautiful Lorraine! It sounds challenging but you pulled it off masterfully!
ReplyDeleteThanks Celia do you ever use Yupo?
DeleteI love your powerful design and strong color. This has so much impact.
ReplyDeleteI personally love the challenge of working on Yupo. Not easy for the beginner for sure, but it does excite my mind with it's possibilities.
Thanks for the visit.
thanks Julie, I find it a lot of work but freeing at the the same time
