Inspiration finds us in many ways and sometimes it is as simple as colour. I reaquainted myself before Christmas with two tubes amongst the many in my collection. Opera Rose by Winsor and Newton and Opera Pink by Daniel Smith. They are really the same pigment but do behave slightly differently wet into wet. When I first purchased them I thought them too fluro and didn't enjoy using them but with the past few paintings that has changed. I have used this vibrant colour in my last 4 paintings (including The Devil in Pink from my last post) so maybe I will now look for a new inspiring colour.

Beautiful Lorraine! I've got some Opera Rose too and now see I should give it a try.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry, it would be great to see how it might "pop" in your lovely landscapes
DeleteHello Lorraine, it's good to see the results of those colours in your beautiful paintings. I really enjoy your artwork :D)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue, lovely to see you here.
DeleteI think I have a tube of opera rose rattling around in my collection. I would hope I could use it as successfully as you have. These are very nice!
ReplyDeleteGood idea to give it a try Joan
